Our Story
Welcome to Scandi Bakery - a place built from love, legacy, and the comforting aroma of something sweet in the oven.
I’m Sara, the founder and baker behind this Swedish bakery. This dream began as a way to honor the people who shaped me, especially my grandparents, my Famoo and Bestefar.
Bestefar is the Danish word for grandfather, and Famoo was our childhood version of the Swedish word Farmor for grandmother. A name that stuck with us at an age when pronouncing things was just too difficult.
I lost both of them far too soon. But what remained were the traditions they built -traditions that kept our family close across generations. Holiday tables filled with Swedish and Danish treats weren’t just meals - they were expressions of love, connection, and our heritage.
My great-grandmother, our Nana, was the family baker. She created and passed down recipes that shaped generations, and my parents carried on those traditions with great care. My father took on the Swedish meatballs at Christmas, while my mother perfected the limpa and pepparkakor. Saturday mornings often meant fresh aebleskiver and time spent as a family, gathered around the kitchen.
My parents’ commitment to keeping those traditions alive allowed me to learn, grow, and feel close to my roots. That legacy became mine to carry, and eventually, to share.
This bakery is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. It’s where I blend the recipes and stories of my past with the passion I’ve had for baking since I could safely use an oven. It’s also something more; a place to connect. A space where tradition meets community. A way to feel closer to the loved ones I’ve lost by sharing the joy they gave me with others.
We’re proud to be the only Swedish bakery in Central Florida, but more than that, we’re proud to be a welcoming space. Here, everyone is invited. No matter who you are or where you’re from, there’s a seat at our table and a fresh Fika treat waiting for you.
